It’s no secret that I have a sweet tooth. And most days you can find me noshing on something sweet… especially during lock-down. I have a few go-to recipes that are always a hit with friends and family. So in the spirit of recipe sharing during quarantine, I wanted to do a round up of the top 5 dessert recipes on Brickellista. These are easy to make with most pantry staples!
Hope these recipes are helpful and inspire you to create and adapt a few dessert recipes of your own.
Momofoku + Milk Bar’s Famous Crack Pie – Miami Style
Sometimes we have cravings, and sometimes we crave desserts we’ve tried in other cities, or states, or even countries! That’s when the power of the internet comes in and we can essentially recreate some of our favorite foods from across the globe. Recently, I’ve been craving Milk Bar, and since they are based in NYC, it’s not something Postmates can easily deliver.
I learned that it is easy to make this addictive dessert at home. Check out the recipe here.
Easiest Recipe for Decadent Chocolate Truffles at Home
I love chocolate truffles. They are such an easy treat to have in your fridge and they satisfy any sweet tooth craving. For this recipe I partnered with my friend Malka. She has designed some of the tastiest trests for hot spots like Johnny V. in Fort Lauderdale and The Forge here in Miami. She makes the most beautiful pastries and is a culinary professor at the Arts Institute in Fort Lauderdale. In essence she knows a thing about chocolate truffles.
You probably have most of the ingredients at home already. So check out Malka’s favorite truffle recipe.
The Perfect Red Velvet Cupcakes with Pineapple Cream Cheese Icing
These perfect Red Velvet Cupcakes with Pineapple Cream Cheese Icing are the perfect addition to your next celebration. The rich chocolate makes them a crowd-pleaser, and the pineapple icing makes them uniquely Miami. Trust me, once you make them… you’ll never want another dessert again.
Pumpkin Maduro Plantain Muffins that Are Far From Basic!
These Pumpkin + Maduro Plantain Muffins are far from basic! They’re a delicious combination of two classics – pumpkin muffins and delicious ripe plantains. These are perfect for adding a little Miami spice to the very trendy “pumpkin everything” trend.
I love plantains in every way, shape, and form. Fried plantains – yes please! Tostones? Well of course yo soy Puertoriqueña! So it just made sense to add pumpkin to my plantain obsession!
These muffins are so easy and delicious with just the right balance of both flavors, neither one overpowering the other. The ripe plantain keeps these muffins moist and delicious while the pumpkin gives them a beautiful color. Best part is they aren’t overly sweet so you can enjoy during any season.
Iced Crack Cafecito Recipe
My overall addiction to coffee is beyond the norm. So I created my now famous “Iced Cafe Con Crack.” It is the perfect dessert… or drink to pair with a dessert. And trust me it’s addicting.
My friends will literally call me and ask me if I am making some that day, so they can come over. It’s THAT good. I make the best iced coffee. Hands down. And I wanted to share it with you because summer around the corner here and iced coffee is where it’s at! Check out the recipe here.
