One of my goals this year is to build lean muscle. My usual regimen of running and yoga was becoming… well… a little boring! I still love both workouts, however for my 2018 fitness goals, I wanted to switch things up. If you’ve been following my Instastories, you know I’ve been doing group classes, Pilates, and personal training at Equinox in Brickell Heights. So far I’m loving the results.
Let me show you around my new gym and give you a sneak peek on my new workout plan. And don’t judge me… I’m not like super buff, so I’m not able to lift super heavy weights… yet đŸ˜‰
Personal Training + Pig Out Accountability
I will admit my diet isn’t 100% “healthy” so the personal training sessions encourage me to eat healthier. Mostly because my trainer, Lamar, watches my Instastories and sees that I overly indulge in Rose! #sorrynotsorry Lamar!
Equinox has a realistic approach to personal training and they matched me with Lamar because he’s a Tier 3x and knows his stuff when it comes to nutrition.
I {try} commit to personal training about 2x per week. There are weeks where my schedule is absolutely insane, so I have to reschedule a bunch of times. Prior to Equinox personal training, I didn’t utilize the weight room in gyms. Now I’m doing crazy things like deadlifts, squats with a GIANT dumbbell thing, and kettle ball swinging. Who am I?!
The results? I’m SWOLE! Kidding.
All joking aside, I’m getting toned and feel more powerful especially after doing a few pull-ups.
Overall, I feel like a ninja in a super cute Beyond Yoga outfit.
Group Classes
My friends and I have been addicted to Equinox and we have group texts to help remind each other when to sign up for classes. Â Meeting for classes serves as our catch up time since our schedules are bananas. That’s what happens when your gals are also total girl bosses!
My go-to classes are usually Yoga, Mat Pilates, and The Muse, which just launched in Miami.
I’m mildly obsessed with the Muse because I used to be a ballerina and this class trains you like a dancer using light round-weights (3lbs) to boost the burn.
Don’t let this class fool you, it’s hard AF!
The class is about 45 minutes and it’s cardio intense! At the end of the class my arms feel like Silly Putty.
Private Pilates Sessions
Every Equinox Pilates Studio features a suite of authentic equipment. The studio is intimate… usually 1-2 people training at a time with individual instructors.
Pilates is also INCREDIBLE for belly blasting to ensure that the body is contracting the correct muscles (those Buddha belly ones) so the abdominals stay flat. Who doesn’t want that?!
You can read more about my Pilates routine here.
Around the Brickell Heights Location
Equinox Brickell Heights is a three-level fitness center in the heart of Brickell. On the third level they have a beautiful pool deck with city views of my kingdom.
What sold me on Equinox? The Kiehl’s products and Eucalyptus Steam Room. Hello workweek mini spa-sesh! I will force myself to workout just so I can indulge in the steam room and shower with the Kiehl’s products. No. Shame. Here.
