If you have let those New Year’s resolutions go the way of the denim-on-denim trend (#out) and you’re feeling like a deflated post-Ultra neon balloon… let’s revitalize and refresh you so you bounce out my office feeling as hoppity as the Easter bunny (but not nearly as creepy).
In my nutrition practice, I see a LOT of fiery determination in January, that slowly fizzles and by April, people go AWOL, cancel their appointments, and I see their instagrams in line @thesaltydonut. No hate, but GUYS – LET’S START OUT SPRING STRONG!!
Tips and tricks from the nutritionist-a to the Brickellist-a to make for a pant-worthy pantry and an #essencenutritionapproved life.
CLEAN OUT THE CONTRABAND. If the Double Stuff oreos are THERE… they WILL tempt you. Saca-lo. Donate them to the homeless people who walk on Brickell.
In the same vein, fill up your life with GOOD SHIZZ. That way, when you’re hungry – you’ll only be presented with GOOD options. Think:
Frozen fruits (they last! They’re the same as fresh.. Just.. frozen!)
Unsalted nuts/seeds
Bars, like OATMEGA, THRIVE BARS
#essenceapproved DESSERTS/TREATS, like BOSSBALLS (protein balls that taste like cake made from Miami gal – https://app.moonclerk.com/pay/237dvc54xy1), Boom Chicka Pop CLASSIC popcorn, hummus, dried edamame, dried chickpeas, venison jerky (yes, it’s a thing), and cacao nibs
For the fridge – obv you’ll want some plain yogurt, kefir, cottage cheese, feta cheese (it’s low in lactose!), carrot sticks, almond butter, sunflower seed butter, and cheese sticks
Keep a running supply (make every Sunday night) of something that LOOKS and tastes good, like overnight oats in a mason jar (ask me for recipes!), vegan, gluten-free chocolate date bars (again, I’m a recipe fountain over here), chocolate avocado mousse, and hazelnut butter dust bars. When you SEE them, you’ll WANT them, and be glad you got a nutritionist-curated snack and not a box of Cheez Its.
EAT your calories; don’t drink them! Stock up on fun coffees, teas, sparkling water, and use herbs like mint to spice up your water. THROW OUT THE DIET SODA/DIET TEA YUCKINESS!
In your life, COMMIT, CALENDAR, AND PAY for THIRTY classes somewhere you’ve been dying to try. Thirty classes, if you go 3x/week, is a nice 10 week commitment! Think yoga, Pilates, Exhale, Ahana, Vita Infuse, KEnergy, Pilathon, Trio – spots you’ve maybe not heard of that are hidden gems. Bonus points: you may make new friends to inspire you.
Commit to ONE change in your diet – you’re much more likely to stick with it. Be it:
Eat 2 fruits a day
Eat 3 vegetables a day
Cut out EVERYTHING white
.. and then we’ll discuss how to add on!
Yours in health,
