British Airways’ digital magazine, The Club, reached out to me this month looking for some fashion advice for their June 2015 issue. They wanted a compilation of my favorite local designers for ready to wear beachwear. Since I reside in sunny Miami, Summer is about 350 days a year – give or take 5 days based on global warming. So, I sent British Airways my favorite local picks and expanded the list for Brickellista Files by adding a my favorites from the events at last year’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim.
For swimwear, Luli Fama captures what Miami girls are really about. I love this swim house and have worn many pieces throughout the years. I have a serious obsession with Luli. The colors of each collection amplify a Miami girl’s tan and the swimwear is flattering for most body types. Beach Riot is also on the top of my list with their unique take on swim. I found it impossible not to snag the MV Miami One Piece pictured above. Plus, it pairs perfectly with the pineapples Daniela and I painted last weekend.
Another swim house I am totally digging is L*SPACE by Monica Wise (pictured above). I love her 2015 collection with bright tribal prints and itty bitty bikini bottoms. Apparently the Coppertone Girl bootie tan is not allowed in Miami, so check out this collection for the best tan of your life!
After a day at the beach, I love throwing on espadrilles or slip on sneakers. Miami’s own Del Toro Shoes provide a classic look for any beach vacation. If the women’s #Jetsetter slip-ons don’t scream Miami vacation, I don’t know what does.
I’m also loving Mara Hoffman’s Espadrilles they are so colorful they will take you to your parents/grandparents Woodstock days! If you have to Google that, seriously, get off my blog…. because I literally “can’t even.”
After the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim, I became a fan of Ipanema Sandals because they are super comfortable and inexpensive enough to throw in your beach bag, yet chic enough to wear with a romper for a beach-side dinner.
For those that are not looking for a bold Summer uniforms – never fear I have you covered. I’d opt for a more classic look and amplify with accessories, and for Summer 2015 it’s all about the tassels. Anything in neon like the Beach Bunny bracelet, from Krystal Sasso is totally Miami! I also love a touch of neon in my sunnies. Check out these cool specs from Sunski. It’s a fun and inexpensive way to add a touch of color to any outfit.
More importantly, stay protected in the sun! My favorite sunblock is Neutrogena Sunscreen Beach Defense in SPF 50 because I’m petrified of wrinkles and sunspots. Petrified, I say! I also use Simple Face Care for everyday sun protection. The Simple Exfoliating cleansing wipes are crucial for post sweat tidying after catching rays, so I will always keep a pack in my beach bag.
From my beach bag to yours, these are my top picks for Summer! What are your top picks for swim this season? Let me know in the comments below.
